Serving as the firm’s business manager, the director of finance & operations will work closely with the CEO to strengthen financial visibility, support sound decision-making, and ensure leadership decisions translate into reliable operational follow-through. It is a hands-on leadership role within a design-driven professional services environment rather than a traditional CFO position.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, KPI tracking, and cash flow visibility.
• Support compensation, benefits, payroll, and related people systems.
• Coordinate insurance, ownership/governance processes, and working with key operational vendors.
• Prepare clear, decision-ready information and recommendations for the CEO.
• Help ensure business decisions are carried out consistently across firm systems.

Given that day-to-day accounting operations are managed by the firm’s senior accountant, this role focuses on business management, integration, and operational follow-through.

Qualifications

• Relevant finance and/or operations leadership experience.
• Experience in a professional services environment required (e.g., architecture, engineering, consulting, or similar).
• Strong budgeting, financial management, and operational coordination skills.
• Familiarity with compensation, benefits, payroll, and related people systems.
• Sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to work closely with firm leadership.

Compensation
Salary range: $110,000 $135,000 base salary plus merit bonus based on the firm’s performance
